Palm Beach is the barrier island town that sits across the Intracoastal Waterway from West Palm Beach, accessed by the Royal Park, Flagler Memorial, and Southern Boulevard bridges. The island runs roughly sixteen miles north to south but only about three-quarters of a mile across at its widest, with a permanent population of around ten thousand that multiplies through the winter season.
Daily life centers on Worth Avenue — a four-block stretch of Mediterranean Revival shop fronts, the historic Everglades Club, and tucked-away interior courtyards known as 'vias'. The Breakers Hotel anchors the resort tradition on the oceanfront, and the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum tells the story of the railroad and resort empire that built the island in the 1890s.
Palm Beach is its own incorporated town, separate from West Palm Beach across the water. Housing skips entirely past starter homes — the island is among the most concentrated estate markets in the United States, with strict zoning that has preserved its low-rise, low-density character.
