Wellington is a village in central Palm Beach County, incorporated in 1995 on land that had been the largest strawberry patch in the country in the 1950s. The village covers about 45 square miles of canal-laced suburban development, equestrian farms, and golf-course communities, with a permanent population north of 60,000 that swells significantly during the winter equestrian circuit.
The village's identity centers on the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center and its Winter Equestrian Festival — the largest and longest-running hunter/jumper circuit in the world — alongside the Global Dressage Festival and the International Polo Club Palm Beach. Outside the equestrian grounds, the village's neighborhoods include Aero Club (with its own grass runway), Palm Beach Polo, and the broader Wellington-proper subdivisions.
Wellington is served by the School District of Palm Beach County. The village has grown into one of the most family-oriented communities in the county while maintaining the equestrian and country-living character that defined it from the beginning.
