Harbor City is a neighborhood within the City of Los Angeles, occupying a narrow strip of land between Carson, Lomita, Wilmington, and San Pedro. It was annexed into Los Angeles in 1906 and is one of the smaller named LA neighborhoods, covering roughly 2.5 square miles in ZIP code 90710.
The community is anchored by Harbor Regional Park, a 230-acre park built around Machado Lake — one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in the South Bay. Anaheim Street and Vermont Avenue form the main commercial corridors, with a mix of small businesses, auto services, restaurants, and the Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center campus on Sepulveda.
Residential streets are mostly mid-century single-family homes and small multi-unit buildings. Harbor City feels neighborly and connected to its surroundings — close enough to walk to the lake, close enough to drive to either the Peninsula or the Port in under fifteen minutes.
